89 - Lang & Reed Cabernet Franc 214, Napa Valley 2007
Vaguely hinting at strawberries and filled out with a very careful complement of sweet oak, this weighty, full-flavored working makes a slight claim to refinement even while being robust and rich. It is supple to start and shows a few tannic edges, but carries no more astringency than a very young Cabernet Franc should, and it’s very long, richly fruited, coffee-tinged finish signals that it has the stamina for mid-term aging.
